The Mental Health Treatment Director is responsible for ensuring effective culturally based clinical operations, program development, quality assurance, and policy implementation of the Mental Health services within the organization. This includes leading innovative mental health treatment programs, teams and culturally based service delivery aligned with the mission of the White Earth Mental Health Program. The position exemplifies leadership, advocacy for constituent access to services, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders while developing, improving and expanding mental health services. The Director shall collaborate closely with internal and external managers, supervisors, and leads to maximize services and sustainability.
Position Outcomes:

  • Lead the development and enhancement of mental health services to effectively meet the needs of constituents.
  • Develop and maintain effective clinical programming, focusing on ethical. Culturally informed and evidence-based practices.
  • Assist with intake referral processes, ensuring seamless client transitions into care.
  • Establish systems to evaluate clinical outcomes and program effectiveness; lead data-driven improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing standards, regulatory requirements, and quality metrics.
  • Oversee high-quality clinical documentation, report-writing, and record-keeping.
  • Facilitate peer chart reviews, ongoing QA processes, and productivity monitoring.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Comprehensive understanding of culturally appropriate and trauma-informed mental health practices, especially in tribal communities.
  • Advanced knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, including diagnostic tools, evidence-based treatment interventions, and family-focused care strategies.
  • Familiarity with tribal governance structures, regulations, and initiatives impacting mental health programming.
  • Understanding of community -centered care models and integration of Anishinaabe cultural teachings in mental health services.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing quality assurance measures for clinical operations and staff performance.
    Qualifications Required:
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related mental health field.
  • Must hold an independent mental health professional license (E.g., LMFT, LICSW, LPCC, LP) and be qualified as a supervisor under DHS standards.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in effective mental health clinical leadership, or program development.
  • Experience in culturally specific mental health service delivery in a Native American community.
  • Familiarity with budget and grant management.
  • Valid driver’s license with travel flexibility.
  • Pass background checks and maintain freedom from chemical use issues.
