This position is part of White Earth’s crisis response team, working under the direction of a Mental Health Professional to provide crisis Intervention services to adults and youth and his/her family/ caregiver experiencing behavior health crisis. As a member of the crisis program, this position will provide outreach through various community events and activities to promote and encourage positive mental health, suicide prevention and substance use prevention strategies.
Position Outcomes:
- Provide crisis services to youth and adult clients.
- Engage with clients from an empowerment, strength-based, culturally sensitive, perspective and promote client self-determination and develop trusting, therapeutic relationships with clients.
- Coordinate services with case managers, family/guardian of client, employment services personnel, medical personnel, etc.
- Follow billing procedures consistent with program expectations.
- Ensure that all necessary releases, consent for treatment, notice of privacy practices and the treatment and financial agreement are current.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the demographics, culture, customs, and geography of the White Earth Reservation.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of principals, methods, and procedures for promoting behavioral change regarding individual and community health.
- Skilled in maintaining up to date documentation meeting all tribal, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Ability to partner with the client, family members and other natural supports throughout the course of treatment.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or other graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university; or bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields and minimum of 2,000 hours of documented supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of adults with mental illness or children with emotional disturbances.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Possess strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Be culturally competent and have experience working with American Indian populations.
- Comfortable utilizing concurrent electronic health record documentation.
- Valid Driver’s License and insurance for travel between sites and other related businesses.
- Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screening.
