The White Earth Reservation Business Committee is currently seeking a qualified applicant who will be responsible to provide child protection services to children and families who are White Earth members, by providing case management and referrals to ensure the families stay together, assist with reunification efforts, and work with local counties to ensure active efforts to families are provided.
Position outcomes:
- Assesses and investigates child welfare, child protection reports to determine maltreatment and safety needs of children.
- Provide case management to families experiencing maltreatment to reduce risk factors to children.
- Ensure culturally appropriate placements and services for families experiencing out of home
placement. - Provide active efforts to reunify families or to make culturally appropriate permanency
recommendations. - Create and complete records and reports to comply with required agencies (internal and external).
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and the ability to work effectively with all different styles of clients.
- Knowledge of laws, tribal codes, and ability to work within those laws.
- Knowledge of court procedures, and ability to effectively represent the case in court.
- Knowledge or ability to gain knowledge of Anishinaabe culture, values, beliefs, and family systems.
- Knowledge or ability to gain knowledge of Anishinaabe child rearing.
- Knowledge or ability to gain knowledge of White Earth Tribal Communities, Medicine Wheel teachings, Anishinaabe systems of healing, addictions, and treatment, supports and of Tribal services programs and how to gain access to them for clients.
- Knowledge or ability to gain knowledge of Tribal services programs and how to gain access to them for clients.
- Skilled and able to obtain required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
- Skilled in confidentiality and ability to maintain confidential records relating to clients’ treatment.
- Ability to prepare and maintain all required case plans and reports.
- Ability to counsel clients to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes while complying with their case plan.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Human Services, with two (2)
years’ experience preferred in the Child Welfare field. - Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Must have a valid MN Driver's License and proof of insurance for travel between sites.
- Must be in good standing in the Native Community.
