White Earth Youth Training Schedule
FIREARMS SAFETY CLASSES
Birth Certificate Required First Day of Class
These are the dates for training, please sign up as soon as possible for the class in your area. Call the White Earth Natural Resource Department at 218.935.2488 to reserve a spot. A minimum of 5 students must be signed up to hold the class.
Anyone 12-15 years of age will be eligible for these classes. Youth 11 years of age are also eligible but will not be able to use their certificate until their 12th birthday. There is also a Firearms Safety Home Study Course, through a certified instructor for those over 18 years of age. According to State regulations, anyone born after December 31, 1979 must have a Firearms Safety Certificate in order to purchase a license for hunting in the State of Minnesota. The White Earth Conservation Code requires any MCT Tribal Member 12-15 years of age to have a Firearms Safety Certiticate in order to purchase a Natural Resources Harvest Permit allowing them to hunt big or small game, including waterfowl, within the Reservation Boundaries. You must have a birth certificate or SSN card to participate in this class. Tribal Members should also refer to the White Earth Conservation Code for new regulations.
The purpose of this class is to teach the principles of safe and responsible firearms handling, hunter responsibility, personal preparedness, basic wildlife management, wildlife identification, and basic outdoor survival skills.

ATV SAFETY CLASSES
Birth Certificate Required First Night of Class
Anyone 12-15 years of age is eligible for the training. You must have a Birth Certificate or SSN Card to participate in this class. Tribal members should also refer to the White Earth Conservation Code for new regulations. Please sign up and request an A.T.V. Disc at the Mahnomen Natural Resource Offices, 216 North Main Street, Mahnomen, MN 56557... (218) 935.2488. Must have disc completed, passed and bring printed test results before they can complete course. The purpose of this class is to teach the principles of safe and responsible operation of an ATV. It will also touch on the laws regarding ATV use. Classes will not be available if less than 5 students are signed up. \
