White Earth Food Distribution

Mission Statement:

To provide healthy food choices for eligible households on or near the White Earth Reservation and to promote life-style changes through proper nutrition education and physical activity.

 Introduction:

Eligible households are provided with a well-balanced food package with over 100 foods to choose from. Nutrition Education, health screening and fitness support services are provided by the Diabetes Project and SNAP supplemental nutrition assistance program.

Service Area

Service area includes the White Earth Reservation boundary area and the encompassing 14 counties when at least one household member is a Federally Recognized Tribal Member. Counties include: Becker, Mahnomen, Clearwater, Beltrami, Clay, Hubbard, Norman, Ottertail, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, Roseau, Wadena and Wilkin.

Application Procedures:

At the interview an application process must be completed. Dedicated staff are available to assist with the application. To expedite the certification process and receive same day food services, the income of all members of the household must be verified. Applicants will need proof of residency, income of household members, social security numbers, Tribal ID's if applicable, childcare expenses and child support to non-household members, shelter/utility expenses up to $400 and out of pocket medical expense for elderly or disabled in excess of $35. If all verification is not available to determine eligibility, households may be asked to return with the required information.
