USDA & Keepseagle Legal Settlement


This Town Hall Outreach Event will take place at the White Earth Nation Community Center, 26310 Crane Road on December 14th, at 2pm.  Come learn about the $760 million Keepseagle Legal Settlement that provides payment up to $50,000 for tribal members who faced discrimination when applying for a USDA farm loan in the 1980s and 1990s.  Larger payments up to $250,000 are possible through more a comprehensive application filed by an attorney.  This Town Hall Outreach Event will also discuss USDA funding opportunities available to tribal members for farm purchases and operating loans, conservation management practices, and business support programs.  These programs may provide financial assistance if you are a land owner or are interested in becoming involved in local food production, including maple sugar and other traditional food products.  The claims filing deadline is December 27, 2011
